SAIL - Specialist Academy - your views are needed!

Dear Supporter,
Reach South Academy Trust is delighted to launch its consultation on a new Special Free School, SAIL (Salisbury Academy for Inspirational Learning), proposed to open in September 2023.
Reach South Academy Trust, in close partnership with the Department for Education, and Wiltshire Council, have worked diligently over the last 24 months to develop a scheme to repurpose the former UTC Salisbury building on Wilton Road, as the site of the new SEND (special educational needs and disability) free school for south Wiltshire.
As part of the process of opening a new school, Reach South Academy Trust is required to hold a consultation exercise (under Section 10 of the Academies Act 2010) to determine whether the Trust should enter into a funding agreement with the Secretary of State to set up a free school; namely SAIL.
The consultation will be hosted online as well as through a public consultation event (see details below).
This consultation will allow parents/carers and pupils, staff and governors from local schools, local authorities, local councillors, local residents and any other interested parties to learn more about SAIL and Reach South Academy Trust, and to share their views.
Itis important to us that a development as significant as this for Salisbury, goes forward with input from you. We want to develop a school that is safe, exciting and purposeful for all its pupils. There is real potential to the site which will become home to the new school, but we also recognise that work needs to be done to make it fit for purpose to meet the needs of the intended autism and SEMH community.
The consultation period will run from Thursday 22nd September 2022 until Wednesday 2 November 2022.
